A moderate sized tree with aromatic leaves and bark found growing wild in tropical and subtropical Himalayas and north-eastern Himalayas.
Application
Indian cinnamon leaves are frequently used for garnishing foods in India and various other countries. Extract of leaves shows a moderate degree of local antiseptic activity.
Chemical composition
The leaves yield an essential oil, which contains eugenol and d- α-phellandrene. The essential oil from the bark contains cinnamaldehyde.
Effect on dosha
Pacifies kapha and vata.
